How to Sign Up for Lyft As Rider and Driver

Lyft is an American organization based in San Francisco. It offers several services like car rentals, food delivery, hire rental vehicles like bicycles, scooters, etc. It serves over 12 cities in Canada and over 644 cities in The United States. The Lyft app can be downloaded from the App Store or the Google Play store. Upon installing the Lyft app, you must sign up for an account before accessing its services.

Android/iPhone – Launch the app → enter your phone number → enter the verification code → enter your name and email address → allow the notification → schedule your ride.

How to Sign Up for a Lyft Account

[1] Download the Lyft app from the Google Play Store or the App Store.

[2] Launch the app on your device.

[3] On the home screen, click the Get Started menu.

[4] Enter the phone number in the field provided.

[5] Click Next, and you will now receive a verification code as a text message to your phone number.

[6] Copy the verification code you’ve received and enter it in the required field.

[7] Click Resend code option if you haven’t received the verification code or if your code has expired.

[8] Now, enter the first name and last name you would like to keep for your Lyft account.

[9] Enter the email address you would like to associate with your Lyft account.

[10] Tick the check box once you have read and agreed to the Terms of Service of Lyft.

[11] Click OK to receive notifications from Lyft. It is essential to allow notifications navigation apps.

[12] You have now successfully signed up for your Lyft account.

[13] Once you have set up your location, click Set pickup → Request Lyft to schedule your first ride.

How to Sign Up for Lyft As Driver

Unlike rider, creating a Driver account is not straightforward, and you need to go through various verification processes.

Requirements:

• Your age must be 21 years and above.
• A valid driver’s license.
• Your car must have four doors and five to eight seats.
• An Android or iOS smartphone.

How to Apply to Become a Lyft Driver

[1] Download the Lyft Driver app and create a user account. The application is available for both iPhone and Android smartphones.

[2] Click the hamburger icon on the app and tap the Drive with Lyft option.

[3] Enter the email address you want to link with the Lyft Driver account and your current location.

[4] Fill in the details requested by the app, and the application verification will be complete within 30 minutes.

[5] Upon successful verification, schedule an appointment with a Lyft-certified inspection center. They will check whether your vehicle meet’s the company requirements or not.

[6] After the approval process, start your first ride from the current location.
