How to Connect an Xbox One Controller to Windows PC

The days of using a keyboard and mouse to play games on the PC are gone. Now, we can connect our Xbox One controllers with our PC to have better control while playing games. As Microsoft owns Xbox One controller and Windows PC, it is easy to connect them. Let’s discuss the possible ways to connect an Xbox One controller with the PC.

How to Connect Xbox One Controller to PC
When it comes to connecting Xbox One Controllers with PC, there are three methods available. You can connect using a micro-USB cable, Xbox Wireless Adapter, or by using Bluetooth. Select and use the method which is convenient for you.
Using Micro-USB cable
The first and easiest way to connect your controller with the PC is by using the micro USB cable.
Step 1: Plug the micro end of the cable to the controller and USB end to your PC.
Step 2: Tap the Xbox button on your controller.
Step 3: The Windows 10 device will recognize the controller automatically. However, the earlier version will download and install some drivers automatically to recognize the controller.

Using Bluetooth
If your Windows device and Xbox controller is powered with Bluetooth support, you can connect them easily with Bluetooth.
Step 1: Enable Bluetooth on your Windows device (Note: Settings -> Devices -> Bluetooth & other devices -> Add Bluetooth or other devices).

Step 2: Press and hold the Bind button on your controller untill it flashes.
Step 3: Now, your Xbox One controller will appear on the Bluetooth devices list. Select and connect to it.

Using Xbox Wireless Adapter
If your Xbox One Controller is not compatible with Bluetooth support, you can use the Xbox Wireless adapter to connect wirelessly with PC. You can purchase these adapters from Amazon.

Step 1: Plug the USB end of the adapter to your PC. It will download the required drivers automatically.
Step 2: Now, press and hold the bind button on your controller.
Step 3: Release the button once the light on your controller flashes.
Step 4: The adapter and controller will be connected automatically within a few seconds.
Final Thoughts
These are the three methods that you can use to connect the Xbox controller with Windows desktop or laptop. After connecting your controller to the PC, you’ll need to repair it with your console when you want to use it there. You can connect it easily with the same micro-USB cable or Bluetooth.
