Qamar Riaz’s investment in giving back to the community.

Qamar Riaz isn’t your typical software development engineer. Growing up in Bhimber, a remote village in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan, Riaz’s early childhood is a sharp contrast to the tech-savvy environments in urban centers. Despite limited access to technology, his fascination with computers began as a teenager, when he was sent to an Army Public School, a service provided for both civilians and children of army personnel.

Job Opportunities

Thanks to his father’s army service, Riaz excelled academically, which led his family to relocate to Lahore, where he completed his associate degree in computer science, mathematics, and physics. Riaz earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences, receiving the Dean’s Honor for his academic achievements.

Riaz has an impressive professional track record spanning seven and a half years. He currently works as a Senior QA Automation Engineer at Capgemini in Portugal, where he has been instrumental in developing automation frameworks that dramatically transform the efficiency and effectiveness of software testing. Using technologies like Python, Selenium, and Cypress, as well as his knowledge and experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, highlights the skills Riaz has gained and nurtured over his career.

In Automation

Riaz’s work in automation reduces manual labor needs and enhances the overall quality of software development processes. His automation systems are capable of completing a week’s worth of work in a matter of seconds, making him a valuable asset in the ever-competitive tech industry. His level of experience and skills is in high demand in the growing software development industry.

Over the course of his career, Riaz has worked with multinational companies across the globe, allowing him to diversify his abilities and his approach to technology and problem-solving. Riaz has been recognized multiple times with Employee of the Quarter awards at S&P Global.

To this end, Riaz began mentoring students back in Pakistan, where he has provided training and mentorship as his own form of community service. To date, Riaz has mentored and trained over 200 students and provided freelance job opportunities to 20 IT graduates in Pakistan. Riaz has made giving back to his community a priority. He hopes to expand on this in the future.

Looking ahead, Riaz plans to establish a start-up software testing services company. Drawing on his expertise in developing automation frameworks, Riaz’s company will focus on delivering efficient, innovative testing services. Riaz has come a long way from his small village to the global tech stage. His core mission includes more than commercial success. He anticipates this venture becoming a multimillion-dollar business, allowing him to create opportunities for hands-on training and mentoring a broader range of individuals interested in technology. His potential was seen and encouraged at a young age, and he hopes to nurture that potential in communities across the globe.
