Drawbacks of Jailbreaking a PlayStation 5 Console
Jailbreaking is not a healthy option since it affects the PS5 and its performance. Before you decide to jump in and do it, know what you are getting into. In the end, it completely is your choice.
Loss of Warranty
Once you jailbreak your PS5, your connection with Sony will be completely severed in all aspects. As soon as you jailbreak your PS5, your warranty will become invalid. You cannot use it to replace or repair your PS5. You cannot get help from their service team, nor will you be able to use your warranty if something happens to your PS5.
And in this case, there is a high probability of something happening to your PS5. One wrong move and your PS5 will be forever damaged. More often than not, it will stop working completely. With no warranty and no way of getting it serviced, it will be nothing more than a piece of e-waste.
Loss of Update and Games
Giving up on system updates is the very first step in jailbreaking. Updates are released regularly to increase the total performance of the PS5, and it also comes with fixes for existing bugs and glitches. In addition to that, you will not be able to download or buy games online using your PSN account.
The PS5 must be running on the latest software to connect to the PlayStation Network. In addition to that, you can also forget about updating the existing games on your console. Furthermore, you will not be able to install or play several games since many of them support only an updated PS5.
Loss of PSN Account
If Sony ever finds out what you have done, you will permanently lose your PSN account. They also have the right to ban your PS5 console. As long as your PS5 is connected to the internet, you will be under Sony’s radar, and the risk of getting caught is higher. You can choose to go offline forever, but then what’s the use of having a PS5 or jailbreaking it in the first place?
Loss Playing Online with Friends
Since you lose all access to your PSN account, there is no possible way to play your favorite multiplayer game with your friends online. You will also be unable to enjoy features such as Share Play and PS5 Share Screen. In addition to that, trying to come online or connecting to the internet in itself is a risk factor for a jailbroken PS5.
