Recently, I was looking for free streaming services to stream movies and TV series without any subscription. That is when I stumbled upon the BBC iPlayer. It is a free streaming service, and it is available on all different versions of the Philips Smart TV. So, it is easy to download the app on Philips Smart TV from the app store of the TV’s operating system.
I installed the BBC iPlayer app and used it with VPN service on my Philips Android TV, and saying I was impressed with the content library would be an understatement. For a free streaming service, the BBC iPlayer library has some of the top-hit TV series, films, documentaries, and more that you can’t find anywhere else.
In this user guide, I will walk you through the complete installation and activation process of the BBC iPlayer app on the Philips Smart TV. I have also included some of the issues I faced with the app and their fixes in this guide.
Is BBC iPlayer Geo-Restricted?
BBC iPlayer is British streaming, and it is geo-restricted to the UK. If you reside outside the UK, you won’t be able to watch any content available on this streaming service. However, I tried using premium VPN services like ExpressVPN and NordVPN to connect to a UK server and stream BBC iPlayer content. Using a VPN solved the geo-restriction issues and helped me install the BBC iPlayer app and watch all its exclusive content.

You need a BBC account to stream the content available on the BBC iPlayer app. You can directly move to the installation process if you already have a BBC account. If you don’t have a BBC account, sign up for an account on the official website of BBC iPlayer.
