Troubleshooting TCL TV No Sound Problem
After identifying the exact cause of the issue, you can proceed with the troubleshooting methods to fix the problem in no time.
Check the Cable Connections
First and foremost, verify whether the volume is not muted. You can utilize the remote to increase the volume level of the TV. Otherwise, hit the Mute button to unmute the TV’s volume. Also, a loose or faulty cable connection can cause your TCL TV to play any content without sound. So, inspect the cable or the ports for visual damage. If the cables are defective, replace them with new ones. Check and confirm all the cables are firmly connected. When using DVI cables or YPBPR cables, make sure the ends are connected to the correct audio input or output ports on the TCL TV.
Many users have connected their TCL TVs to DVD players, Blu-Ray, or satellite boxes. In such a case, double-check and confirm you have used red and white cables for audio. If the external device has a controller, increase the volume on it to get sound back on TCL TV.
Consider Other Apps or Channels
At times, the problem can occur with a specific app or channel. You can switch to a different channel and check whether the issue happens with a particular channel. If you can watch the other channels with sound, there is a good chance that the signal strength of the channel is poor. Moreover, technical issues within an app or channel can cause audio issues while streaming the content on TCL TV. Suppose switching to the channel doesn’t fix the problem. You can proceed to perform a power drain on your TCL TV.
Power Cycle Your TCL TV
For no sound on TCL TV, you can do a power cycle on the TV as an effective troubleshooting measure. The process is simple and takes only a few minutes.
1. When the TV is turned On, hit the Power button on the TCL TV to turn it Off.
2. Disconnect the TCL TV from the power source. To do that, you should either unplug the power cord from the electric outlet or remove the power cord from the TV.
3. Leave the TV undisturbed for 1-2 minutes. This step will drain the power from your TV and fix audio lag or delay.
4. After that time, plug the power cord of the TCL TV back into the power source. Make sure the connections are firmly done.
5. Use the Power button on the TV to turn On the TCL TV.
Your TCL TV should start functioning well with perfect sound after turning On the TV. Suppose you have connected headphones to a TV, you should make sure the necessary settings are enabled on the TV to fix no sound on TCL TV from headphones. If you don’t get the intended results, you can do a power reset on the TV.
Soft Reset the TCL TV
Performing a soft reset or cold boot on the TCL TV may sound similar to a power cycle. But there is a noticeable difference in the process.
1. Unlug the TCL TV’s power cord from the wall outlet and wait for a complete minute.
2. Locate the Power button on the TV and press and hold the button for nearly 30 seconds. Doing this will discharge all residual power from the TV and reset the mainboard.
3. After a minute, re-plug the TV’s power cord back into the wall outlet.
4. Turn On the TCL TV either using a remote or with the Power button on the TV.
When you turn the TV back On, the TCL TV should display content with sound. Using soft reset, you can shut Off your TV completely rather than keep it on standby mode when powered Off.
Check and Adjust the TCL TV Sound Settings
If the power drain does not work for you, you need to adjust the sound settings on your TCL TV. The key here is incorrect audio settings can lead to no sound on the TCL TV. When using any external sound system like a soundbar, you should make sure the volume on the sound system is raised to the appropriate level. Similarly, you should turn On your TV speakers while the sound system is not in use.
1. Hit the Home button on the TCL Roku TV remote to get the Home screen.
2. Move to Settings and choose the Audio option.
3. Pick the Speakers followed by TV Speakers.
Note: If headphones or CEC system audio are active, your TCL TV will use TV speakers for sound.
